A few friends and I ventured uptown to Harlem to check out “Amateur Night” at the Apollo Theater last night.
Since 1934, every Wednesday night at 7:30pm aspiring artists and performers have graced the stage of the Apollo Theater with hopes that the magic of the hallowed stage and the approval of the infamous audience will launch their careers in the entertainment world. Apollo Wednesday night alumni are an impressive and ever-expanding roster of world class talent including such legends as Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday, James Brown, Ben E. King, Jackie Wilson, The Isley Brothers, Luther Vandross, Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5, Fat Joe, Lauryn Hill, Dru Hill, Blu Cantrell and many others.
Check out the lungs on these two guys…who will hopefully continue on the history making trail:
a definite must-do if visiting NYC!

Coterie 2010 concluded today in NYC!
Coterie is a trade show known for sparking worldwide trends with hand-picked designers comprised of both established names and the young, avant-garde designers. It is a culmination of fashion RTW and accessories that introduces new lines, trends, and seasons to the public. A plethora of buyers from boutiques and retailers from across the globe push their way through the lines to get their order in with the most coveted designers.
As new comers to the Coterie scene, TRE was packed every time I passed their booth! TRE is a up and coming, hot line that caught my eye. Conceptualized by the NYC-based (yet international blooded) socialite duo, Marisa Brown (Brazil) and Ulrica Lanaro (Sweden), the accessories line is dominated by ultra fun, modern, and affordable italian blown glass rings and necklaces.
The pair have followed Parisian Renee LALIQUE’s lead who is now being shown at the South Street Sea Port in NYC.

Inspired by my time spent in Palm Beach this weekend, I decided to take a closer look into the line that has reigned over U.S. “prespsters” for the past 4 decades, the Lily Pulitzer collection.
Since the line’s conception in 1960–when Lily had the need for a printed dress that would camouflage the juice stains while she was working at her juice stand–the collection has grown to such enormity that everyone wants a little piece of Lily.

To commemorate their 50th Anniversary, Lilly Pulitzer created a limited edition Jeep Wrangler in an iconic print (named “petal to the metal” of course!) for New York Fashion Week.

I was rudely awakened by the excitement of my house-mates Sunday morning to wake up for the 30-story building implosion at 1515 N. Flagler Drive Sunday morning. The condominium has been empty for the past six years after the extreme damage of Hurricanes Jeanne and Frances.

I saw met this iconic doll on my President’s Day jaunt down to Palm Beach: “He exemplifies fantastic Palm Beach fashion,” said a company spokeswoman.”
Palm Beach Sugar Daddy Ken doll to be released by Mattel in April 2010.
“Cool sophistication in breezy Palm Beach! Sporting a dashing jacquard-patterned jacket with a light pink polo shirt and crisp white pants, Ken doll is ready for Palm Beach social season, sunning by the pool and a stroll with his little companion.”
soooo Palm Beach…
